The main problem is that Bluetooth.plist file keeps replacing itself. If you delete it, it comes back with default things written. If you try to edit names of devices, for example Apple's Mouse #1, the name I see, the Bluetooth.plist file just rewrites to original version. You can do so in System Preferences.
